to get you in the holiday mood...

we just received some beautiful letterpress cards and they are all hand printed on an antique press

and of course we have a much bigger seletion at the store and there is still more arriving!

fieldwork, product overview from these clever, clever kids.

Knot

Amanda Huynh
Based on traditional Japanese furoshiki cloths and wrapping techniques, Knot can be used as both a laptop case and as a scarf. A pattern of small felt triangles is sealed between a coloured cotton layer and a water-resistant nylon layer. This pattern in the material allows Knot to accommodate the corners of a laptop as well as provide interesting form as a garment.
$119

Resurface

Anna Gukov
In a jewelry box of ghosts and relics lay buried memories of what has passed between family, lovers and friends. Jewelry tells a story about its owner, however not all such stories need to be shared. This pendant can be worn on its own or to cover an object of personal significance. Resurface is constructed by hand from genuine leather and suspended on an oxidized silver chain.
$105–$125

Lock Light

Jeffrey Werner & Joshua Doherty
Do you put your U-lock in your back pocket? Lock Light was inspired by how we usually carry U-locks behind us while riding: bungeed to racks, strapped to bags, hung on belts, and of course tucked in back pockets. Attach the light to the lock to provide some posterior illumination. The light has a durable aluminum shell and red LEDs with solid and blinky settings. Fits most U-locks.
$59

Party Lock

Jeffrey Werner & Joshua Doherty
Manufactured in Vancouver, Party Lock is an extended take on the traditional bicycle u-lock. At two-and-a-half feet of zinc-plated steel, it’s designed to secure your bike, your friend’s bike, or your family’s bikes—or anyone else you’re pedaling about with—because those who cycle together stay together.
$119

Funeral for Objects

Joji Fukushima
Many things can be tossed into a garbage can, but not everything should be thrown out like everyday rubbish. This is a funeral kit for your important objects. It consists of the materials necessary for a ceremonial cremation of artifacts from your past. Maybe it is time to say farewell to those objects that no longer mean as much as they used to.
$119

Three jars

Misha Olynyk
These jars are hand selected across different times and places and revived as a one of a kind collection. Each new lid is a precise replica of the original, now hand-turned in solid walnut and finished with a food-safe blend of mineral oil, bees and carnauba wax, produced in the Fraser Valley. Consider each set carefully, as no two are alike.
$159 / set

i wish you could all just reach in to touch and feel the quality of these thoughtfully designed pieces.  if you want something extra special...may we gently say that this is the way to go?

FIELDWORK AT WALRUS from Fieldwork on Vimeo.

thank you to everyone, especially to Fieldwork for all your hard work, for making the night so great.

why thank you poppytalk!

if you haven't seen her lovely site yet, please do.  a beautiful, thoughtful blog....

p.s. Janis of Pinecone Camp and Heather of Missing Goat are also frequent contributors!

a little taste of MoMa.

this is where i used to do the most damage, at the MoMa gift shop.  while we can't bring everything they have in, we have recently acquired a few things that we thought were lovely.

this beautiful set of 3pieces (picture showing 2 sets) are made of natural beechwood and can be stacked... or not.

and i couldn't resist the classic eames 'house of cards'. the small house of cards is the original, made in 1952. the images are of what Eameses called "good stuff", chosen to celebrate "familiar and nostalgic objects from the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms." the six slots on each card enable the player to interlock the cards so as to build structures of myriad shapes and sizes.
great for big and small people stocking stuffers.
each of these playful cufflinks appears to have been marked with a thumbprint. made of tin plated with white gold. set of two.

poketo X club mumble, curated by Mr. Bob Kronbauer

we're excited to finally be working with these guys out of L.A. - and what better time to bring them in, then when they released their Vancouver collab with Vancouver Is Awesome and Club Mumble's, Bob Kronbauer?  this is why this duo has been on our radar:

founded in 2003 by Ted Vadakan (filmaker) and Angie Myung (graphic designer), they were always curating shows for artist friends. "the shows were a lot of fun and brought tons of people together. but there was one problem. no one could afford to buy the art displayed. for this reason, ted and angie came up with an affordable solution to satisfy everyone’s art lust. they created limited-edition artist wallets that were accessible and well designed so that no one would be without a piece of art of their own."

good job guys, love it!

"The Poketo x Club Mumble series was conceived in collaboration with Bob Kronbauer, including the artwork of Andrew Pommier, Jeremyville, Tony Larson, and Travis Millard (click on names to see their sites!). These artists are prominent figures within the skateboarding community, but are also prolific self-publishers, product designers, gallery artists, and designers."

"It is the best of times and the worst of times in this Modern Life, according to Andrew Pommier."

"Welcome to the offbeat and exciting world of Jeremyville. The road to eternity is not as far as you think! We invite you to step into his world"

"Rock It with Tony Larson"
