tree planting, by klee larsen

up in the shop:

"Barley" 36" X 36"

"Suncore" 36" X 36"

"Tolko" 36" X 36"

"The Block" 36" X 36"

"Klee has recently moved back to Vancouver after spending her last two summers tree planting across Canada and living in Montreal during the fall and winter. She has been having fun working on the classic idea of landscape photography but putting a different twist on the finished shot. Using very grainy film, no tripod and placing the horizon line across the center adds a creepy feel to an already odd perspective."

i love the simple way these hang in the shop.

Printed on archival paper with a laminate finish.

something sweet and fresh this weekend.

i guess we're a little food obsessed these days. first the slop press launch, and now this. (clearly we don't believe in new year's diets)
just look at them!!  i've only experienced these bundles of goodness this past winter, but daniel, being swiss, knows them all too well.   and when our client told us his little brother has been hard at work making all sorts of amazing flavours, well we thought...

...being valentine's day and all coming up...why not?
so, this weekend, come down for a tasting, meet this talented young man and pick up a freshly made batch!

a perfect valentine treat.

introducing world reclaimed.

we're so happy to share this with you.  if you remember's last year's gardening seminars put on by the talented aloe designs, here they are again with a new medium....

"A friendly neighbour wanted to unload his age-old Grolsch bottles on us, when he overheard Owen was going to attempt to make beer with his buddy. ‘Attempt’ being the operative word. The beer sucked. In fact it resembled murky water with a hint of funky feet. The bottles were then emptied and sat in storage, taking up precious room. Later that week, a friend at Terra Nova Schoolyard mentioned he was looking for some glass bottles to make cider from the apple trees at the kids garden. In exchange for the bottles, he wanted to find a home for a stack of old wood chair tops that were taking up precious room in his storage. The barter was made and an idea was born. Not to mention, the Grolsch bottles were much happier with their new tenant and the cider kicked our sad beer’s ass.

The seats were then cut to free form shapes, sanded down to smooth raw pacific oak and then oiled up. O was able to produce 24 in the series- all individually handcrafted with love, a little bit of sunshine & snow, and good tuneage from the ipod didn't hurt.

Think housewarming gift with a baguette in hand and some yummy gooey cheese. Nice work my handy creative guy. Could a new side career be brewing?"  - we hope so!

great story and these pieces are going swiftly...don't say we didn't warn you!  xo

in the blogosphere...

we met gabriel, the creator of THE GBOX a few months ago when he attended the 'fieldwork' show. this sums up what he's doing:

"The world is our theatre. The Gbox is your stage.
This blog is purely here for sharing inspirational material from anywhere and everywhere. Pop by, have a sip and let go.
The Gbox; about the million thoughts and voices in my head."

he put together a few lovely images from our last event:  thegbox.com
and check out the images he shared from Alberto Seveso - i llllooooooove them, what do you think?

thank you gabriel and keep up the beautiful stream of inspiration coming.

a few new lovely things...

these pieces came in just before the holidays. we didn't have a chance to share them with you, but they deserve a proper introduction!  all 3 companies are local too.

SPOT TEA

these teas are beautiful!  here is how they describe themselves:

"A Vancouver-based company that embraces the contemporary lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest, offering a classic beverage with a fresh look."  delicious hot or cold.

when daniel and i read the ingredients on these soaps, we were pretty shocked to read just how pure and simple they were! from the packaging to the quality, and the people behind them...they've been moving quickly and smell good enough to eat...

more scents available in the shop.

•all soaps are all natural and handmade. they contain no synthetic dyes or fragrances. they are also vegan friendly as they contain no animal products what-so-ever. the base oils of the soap are palm, coconut and olive.
•the ingredient list is on each box with the non-latin names in brackets. due to the minimalism of the soap, each bar is typically safe for sensitive skin types.

lastly, when phillip adam came in with his wife, judy and daughter nicola - they looked like a hair / skin commercial.  their skin was glowing and their hair was supple and shiny!  the products spoke for themselves...

a little about this family run company:

"in working with a cosmetics chemist, they were able to formulate a shampoo with apple cider vinegar as the principal cleansing agent. the final product performed without dulling natural or colour-treated hair.

with the success of the shampoo, phillip has gone on to produce a hair conditioner, body wash and body lotion all with the same attention to detail. all considered essential for daily family use, the products are infused with natural botanical extracts are biodegradable, and are SLS-free."

we have the lotion, wash, shampoo and conditioner in an assortment of sizes.

now that's how we kick off the new year.

thank you so much to everyone for coming out to celebrate the slop press website launch with us. we couldn't have asked for a better way to start the year; good food, good drink, good people, good music.  thank you.
